I Got Attacked by a Dog — Now I Have Hair Growing on My Nose

Woman whose nose was cut off in a vicious dog attack, now has hair growing from skin grafts. What she’s going through is as bizarre and rare as it sounds, and it’s left everyone in shock. Read on to discover her story.

She was attacked by her father’s rescue dog.

In September 2022, Trinity Rolls’ life took a dramatic turn when she was attacked by her father’s rescue dog. The dog, a pitbull and bulldog mix named Irish, had always been a gentle giant, like a “big teddy bear”. Trinity would often take care of him, especially when her father was away. But on that fateful day, after an argument with her father, tension in the house may have triggered Irish.

Trinity remembers the attack as being completely out of character for Irish. She explained that breeds like Irish are very emotional and can react unexpectedly in stressful situations. “Animals can only communicate in so many ways,” she said. As she began to walk away, Irish suddenly attacked her, leaving her screaming that the dog was biting her nose.

Rowles has very hazy memories of this episode.

Her father tried to protect her by putting her in the fetal position, but the dog continued to attack. Rowles recalled that the dog grabbed her arm and started playing tug-of-war with her like a game, dragging her across the yard. Then, out of nowhere, the dog stopped, walked away, and sat on the steps of the porch. Her father and some neighbors quickly came to help, calling the police and an ambulance, and while they waited, the dog was brought inside.

When the police arrived, Rowles recalled being placed on a stretcher. Although the attack was brief, it seemed like it lasted forever. She said it was like going in and out of reality during the attack. She knew she was being attacked and bitten, but only vaguely. She could feel the pain, but she didn’t fully understand how badly she was hurt. Rowles ended up with injuries to her face, ears, and arm. She was taken to the hospital, and her memories afterward are somewhat hazy.

The recovery has been long and painful.

Trinity Rawls was in the hospital for four days after the attack and then had to return for surgery to repair her nose. At just 20 years old, she has already undergone four surgeries and may need another six to repair her face. One of the surgeries involved grafting skin from her forehead and scalp, which even resulted in hair growing on her new nose, something she struggles with every day.

The whole experience has left Trinity with PTSD, causing her to have recurring flashbacks, difficulty sleeping, and need therapy and medication. To help cover the costs, a fundraising campaign has been set up, and so far, more than $6,400 has been raised towards the $10,000 goal.

The attack has shaken Trinity’s confidence, making it difficult for her to accept her new look. She is now more aware of the dangers dogs can pose, something she had never thought about before. On top of that, she struggles with the mental impact of the hair growing on her nose, which forces her to shave twice a week.

She now has an entire community following her journey on social media.

The 21-year-old shares her recovery journey on TikTok, posting updates on her recovery process, including the unexpected hair growth on her nose. In a recent video titled “Let’s Remember to Be Kind to People,” she reintroduced herself to her fans, many of whom know her from a family member’s dog attack.

In the post, she expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her from the beginning and took a moment to address her critics. She acknowledged her appreciation for her supporters and suggested that despite the negativity of some, her experience has allowed her to connect with others who have faced similar situations.
